Being married to a proud bearded man, it would be a miss of me not to share with you all this next corner of the city. Of course many of you good Perth folk may already be aware of Uncle Joe’s Barber Shop, but for those that aren’t; you’re welcome! Previously home to Zekka, this King Street space is the brainchild of Head Studio, and has seriously been fitted out with every detail in mind. From the swirling red, white and blue barber’s pole at the entrance, to the subway tiles and antique barber chairs. From what I’ve been advised, the morning queues are well worth the wait, so if you’re in need of a no-nonsense hair cut, or would like one of their dedicated barbers to finally give some attention to that out of control beard, grab a takeaway coffee from the attached Uncle Joe’s Mess Hall and jump in…

The barber scene in Perth is well and truly making a comeback, and although there are a decent bunch of gents out there bringing back an old-school approach to men’s grooming, the boys over at Westons Barbershop & Shave Parlour deserve a whole lot of credit for what they’ve been stirring up in Perth over the last year. Located in the heart of Northbridge, every detail of the shop fit-out seems to have been thought out. From the old school barbershop chairs, to the dirty great big pool table in the centre of the shop; this little heritage listed one-stop gentlemen’s grooming spot has it all. Owners James & Justin met after both moving to Australia from the UK, and started up Westons together after realising their mutual love for traditional barbering.
