So Joel and I visited Sherbet a little while ago, and oh my did my eyes light up as soon as we walked in!
Sherbet is a retro bake shop in Maylands run by best pals Sheree + Beth. They were fans of the cupcake scene in New York and have been baking at top speed since moving back. The counter is lined with cakes, biscuits and slices of all varieties. A small refrigerated cabinet showcases sandwiches neatly wrapped in wax paper and string; huge, fluffy marshmallow slices; tarts brimming with feta and caramelised onions; and a curious-looking treat entitled “salted caramel slice”.
Joel got the Zucchini, bacon, caramelised onion & cheddar tart, and I picked the Free range chicken on sourdough with roasted peppers, rocket, danish feta and avocado mayo. The sandwich was delicious, but the most exciting part was that it was served American-style, with a generous side of pickles and crisps!
We couldn’t help but squeeze in a lemon & pear polenta cake before rolling out of there with a well satisfied stomach. With my birthday quickly approaching I think I may just have to order a few tasty cakes to help celebrate.
