EATdrink: Hobart Street Deli

Joel and I came across this neat little spot around the corner from us a few weeks back when looking for coffee, though we went back this morning to try out their breakfast menu, and I thought I’d share. Located on pleasant little Hobart street, where you don’t have to fret if you’ll get hit by a car when crossing the road, is Hobart Deli. Being only short bike ride from our house, it will be hard not to keep going back every Saturday morning. Firstly, I’d like to mention that I love a cafe that dresses their shop well, and this one did not disappoint as we were greeted by a lovely wall of genius by one of Perth’s local talents; Creepy. The inside was full of lovely things to look at too, and they seemed to have gotten into the Christmas spirit – Which I loved! There were plenty quirky giftware on display & for sale inside which I always like, as it gives you something to look at whilst you’re waiting. There were also some tasty looking cakes and slices on display at the counter which I suspect would go down a treat in the afternoon with a cuppa on the go.

I get the impression this place is somewhat a local secret as there were plenty of free spots to sit inside when we arrived around 9 o’clock, though I do suspect it might have got at little busier after we left. The staff seemed friendly enough, and the atmosphere inside was very relaxed. As for the menu, I ordered the savoury brioche french toast w/ bacon, banana and maple syrup, and Joel got the breakfast wrap w/ bacon, fried eggs, tomato, pecorino and greens. I was very happy with how my dish turned out. I’d never tried the bacon and maple combination before, though paired together with that banana and brioche and well, I feel in love. I also gave their green apple juice a try, and although I probably didn’t match it up very well to my meal, it was rather refreshing. As for Joels, he said it was quite tasty, though I was too into mine to give it a try. He also ordered a flat white and seemed pleased. I don’t drink the stuff, but he seemed to rate the barista’s skills.
